This note started as a mini video, so if you'd like to watch/listen to this message it's here — or continue reading if you prefer…

I’ve been struggling with writing this newsletter — and I’m wondering if you can relate.

I was an English/creative writing major back in college, and I remember it feeling super hard for me to write anything from scratch.

Looking back now and thanks to a friend pointing it out to me, I’ve been learning something important about myself —

Even though I’m a quieter person, I actually process my thoughts and ideas by talking out loud about them.

What matters is that it actually *feels* easier to me to think a little about something on my mind, tap record, and then talk through it for myself.

I think this also helps me keep my recovering perfectionist tendencies at bay more easily too. Those can be a friction point for me in my making process so I experiment with methods and tools that help me take imperfect action.

So I’m going to lean into this method of “talking it out” first and *then* writing because I feel less friction there in the process for me.

Now to you — where does the friction happen in your process, and have you noticed less friction elsewhere that you could lean into more? If you want to reply, please do as I'd love to hear what's working for you.

...

Have a great week ahead, and thanks for being here.

Keep creating,
-Zach
